Assessments include processing capacity, data storage usage and growth, network usage, and backup/disaster recovery needs through analysis of current operations and systems use. Provide recommendations in the form of cost and benefit analysis, memorandums, written proposals, and quotes. Recommend information system policies for clients.
  • Support of desktops, CAD workstations, mobile laptops, laptops with docking stations.
    • Desktop and laptop hardware and software support. Troubleshoot to determine root cause and resolve when practical. Avoided reloads unless time, financial, or security circumstances dictated otherwise. Recommended machine replacement when practical.
    • Workstation security relating to email, viruses, spyware, malware. Best of practice recommendations to prevent issues based upon user needs, environment, and past issues.
    • Microsoft Office support relating to Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Troubleshoot and resolve issues including manual uninstall and registry removal. Determine version compatibilities, file conversion issues, Macintosh compatibility, and compatibility with other office suites. Assisted with training, template creations, and production of files for distribution.
    • Troubleshooting domain joining, orphaned members, and roaming profiles on Samba, NT, and Active Directory domains.
    • Support of Lotus Notes, Citrix clients, VPNs, Remote Desktop, and secondary pervasive routes to remote networks through use of "route" command.
  • Applications support of industry specific applications including medical practice management, medical electronic billing, veterinary practice management, digital x-rays, ambulatory surgical center management, kennel management, double entry accounting systems, and integration issues into common accounting packages.
    • Advanced support and setup of QuickBooks and Peachtree on workgroups, network attached storage, and client/server networks, and third part integration.
    • Documents managements through file system organization, format standardization, and digitization. Setup and implemented document management using Microsoft SharePoint.
    • Using Microsoft Access, created reports for collections by merging data from multiple sources in ambulatory surgical management software.
    • Modified, created, and supported the customization of Crystal Reports for UK accounting package, QuickBooks, and Peachtree.
  • Software development in Linux and Windows environment.
    • Linux & Windows web platform using C++, CGI, remote debugger to create session, page, request, response objects, event driver HTML control objects, MySQL wrappers that allowed for object generation.
    • Create POP3 to SMTP Bridge as a threaded NT Service in C# using sockets following POP3, SMTP, and MIME standards. Used regular expressions to extract header data.
    • Created Peachtree and Outlook contact synchronization in C#.
    • Created proposals including functionality, technologies, workflow, data structure, time-line, and costs for programming projects:
      • Athlete marketing site utilizing HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and HTTP uploads.
      • Product marketplace utilizing PayPal, PHP, MySQL, and HTTP uploads.
      • C# based Yahoo Yellow Pages company information harvester for marking.
      • C# based YellowPages.Com information harvester for marketing. Subcontracted project out and managed for client.
      • POP to SMTP bridge as a NT Service
      • Peachtree Customer syncronization with Outlook's default contact folder.
  • Support of phone systems though project management, sub-contracting telephony needs for wiring, analogue, and digital phone systems.
    • VoIP system design, build, and deployment using Linux and Asterisk. Created dial-plan, connected to analogue and VoIP trunks.
    • Configured and administered voicemail, call parking, and call forwarding while out of office using Asterisk. Support of remote phones when other vendors proved incompetent.
    • Typical VoIP issues include network, hardware, and bandwidth related. Determined bandwidth requirements, acceptable margins for reliability, and set expectations to manage customer satisfaction.
  • Network support, administration, and engineering to determine needs, capacity, and availability.
    • Wiring using CAT5/6 following TIA 568A/B standards. Resolved wire failures issues. Defended wiring through testing and certification to eliminating third party concerns. Setup wireless infrastructure using access points, antennas, and wireless security protocols including WEP and WPA. Resolved compatibility issues with devices and encryption types.
    • Select, support and deploy routers including Linksys, DLink, NetGear, SonicWall, and Cisco routers. Configured router DHCP, DNS, WINS, NAT, and DMZs. Created firewall rules to eliminate unwanted network traffic for applications and spam zombies.
    • Specify, configure, and migrate router VPNs for user clients, and router to router VPNs. Setup VPNs with heterogeneous hardware including SonicWall, Linksys, and Cisco routers. Joined remote computers to the domain over VPNs for user management, file access, and email connectivity. File synchronization using Windows XP/Vista/7.
    • Content filtering of internet use resulting in reduced security incidents and increased productivity.
    • Setup WAN redundancies and load balancing using routers and default gateways.
    • Review network, router, and physical security of network for SAS70, created SAS70 specification. Found network and security issues relating to SAS70 review.
  • Server hardware and software support including the specification, design, and building of servers utilizing RAID, SCSI, SATA, and hardware redundancy.
    • Linux & FreeBSD for telephony, internet, and faxing solutions. Technologies included IPTables Asterisk, Hylafax, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Bind, Sendmail, Joomla, WU IMAP, Cyrus IMAP, RoundCude and Squirrel web mail. Backups using TAR/GZip and Windows using Samba for file access. Sendmail setup including relay authentication and real-time block lists (RBL) for spam. Multiple domains in Apache and Sendmail.
    • Microsoft Exchange implementation and support including multiple internet domains, backups, disaster recovery, creating mailboxes, distribution lists, and aliases. Recovered data files, replayed logs, checked for consistency, mounted, and reconnected mailboxes. Setup ActiveSync access and phones including BlackBerrys, Windows Mobile, iPhones, and Andriods. Setup Outlook Web. Configured use of real-time block lists (RBLs) for spam. Setup smart host relaying and POP3 Connectors.
    • Fax solutions utilizing Microsoft Fax and fax clients for electronic distribution of faxes. Implemented fax broadcasting with Linux, USB modems, Halifax, ImageMagick, and a BASH script to automate the process.
    • Microsoft SQL server installation and support. Online and offline backup. Reconnecting data files to databases for migrations and disaster recovery. Support of MySQL, Pervasive, PostgreSQL, and other databases. Execution of SQL scripts provided by developers.
    • Active Directory administration including the creating of users, groups, machines, distribution lists. Connected backup Domain Controllers utilizing a mix of 2000, 2003, and 2008 Active Directories.
    • Administer Group Policies with respect to Internet Explorer, passwords, and Windows firewalls. Created Group Policies specification for SAS70 compliance.
    • Used Microsoft server technologies for network services including Routing and Remote Access for VPN connections, DHCP, and DNS.
    • Setup RDP/Terminal Server for applications that required high bandwidth, reliability, and/or data security over WAN and VPN connections. Connected printers through RDP protocol, TCP/IP, or printer sharing. Created Terminal Server SAS70 specification.
    • Disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing using file copies, NTBackup, BackupExec, and Ghost. Support and resolve disasters due to hardware or software failure. Assist data recovery options. Backup and disaster recovery review and specification for SAS70.
    • Setup and administer FTP servers for large file transfers utilizing Filezilla and Windows Server.
    • SharePoint installation, setup, and support for groupware and document management.
    • TightVNC setup for RDP/Terminal server alternative on NT 4.0, and to support clients from remote.
    • Setup, administer, and support Symantec and McAfee client/server security suites.
  • Provide second, third, and final tier support to clients and contractors. Assess technical level, trained, and assign responsibilities based upon capabilities. As competencies increased, provided additional training to increase capabilities.

Built, installed, and configured Internet server to provide internal host for website and Exchange email using Internet Information Server (IIS). Configured IIS to pass email to Exchange through SMTP mail exchange. Configured Microsoft Proxy for access to Internet from private network using private IP space for security.
  • Specify, develop, and support of customer Voice Response Unit applications that integrated into client's phone systems and mainframes for mortgage and banking applications. Solutions also included fax on demand, and call distribution.
